I added a tag and nothing happened
Tags label people. On their own they do not start anything yet.

When it does work
Adding a tag from inside the app — on a contact's page, or with Add Tag on the selection bar — checks for an active sequence that starts on that tag and enrols the person straight away. The first email goes out at once, even during quiet hours.
When it does not
Tags added any other way do nothing: a workflow's Add Tag action, an import, a merge, and most webhooks do not enrol anyone. And a sequence built on Tag from Settings cannot be activated, so a custom tag has no active sequence to fire — whichever way you add it. This is a limitation of the platform today, not a mistake on your part.
What to do instead
- Start from a form — Build the sequence on New lead and put the form on a funnel page. This is the reliable path.
- Start from a booking — Build it on Call booked and send people to your booking page.
- Add people by hand — Open the contact and enrol them in the sequence directly. Fine for small numbers.
