Get your message templates approved and synced
Meta reviews every message you use to start a WhatsApp conversation; this screen brings the approved ones into your workspace.
Open this screen in the app ↗WhatsApp only lets a business start a conversation using wording Meta has reviewed in advance. Templates are written and approved on Meta's side, then copied into your workspace with one button so they can be used in campaigns, in the Inbox, and in automations.
Look at: Sync Meta button
- Open WhatsApp in the left menu and click Templates.
- Click Create in Meta. Meta's WhatsApp Manager opens in a new browser tab.
- Write your template in WhatsApp Manager and submit it for review.
- Wait for Meta's decision. The review happens on Meta's side; nothing in this app speeds it up or reports on it.
- Return to Templates and click Sync Meta.
- Read the confirmation, which counts what came across — for example "Synced 4 approved Meta templates".
Sync Meta is greyed out until a WABA ID is saved on WhatsApp > Settings. Connect your number first.
What each control does
- Create in Meta — Opens Meta's WhatsApp Manager template list in a new tab. No template is written inside this app.
- Sync Meta — Pulls the current template list from Meta into your workspace.
- Use — Opens the Campaigns screen with this template already chosen.
- Trash icon — Removes the template from your workspace list. A confirmation box appears first.
Only templates Meta has approved ever appear here. One that is waiting for review, or that Meta rejected, is invisible everywhere in the app — including its rejection reason. Check its status in WhatsApp Manager.
Syncing makes your list match Meta exactly. A template you remove with the trash icon comes back at the next Sync Meta if it still exists at Meta. To retire wording for good, delete it in WhatsApp Manager, then sync.
The All Categories filter matches the category Meta assigned each template — commonly marketing or utility. Those are not among the six choices in the dropdown, so picking one usually empties the list. Use the search box instead.
Fill-in-the-blank spots
Anywhere the approved wording contains a placeholder in double curly brackets, the app turns it into a fill-in box when you send; each card tells you how many the template has. Named placeholders such as {{name}} are filled from the contact's record when the app knows it. Numbered placeholders such as {{1}} and {{2}} are always delivered to Meta in number order, whatever order they appear in the sentence.
